Staying at Home...Family Style

As the country began to shut down, stay-at-home orders issued, public Masses suspended, I wondered how that would effect the daily life at St. Francis Convent.  With a chaplain on-site, we were able to continue the celebration of the sacraments as a family and maintain our normal horarium that includes the Liturgy of the Hours.  While we miss the members of the Legion of 1,000 who pray in our San Damiano Adoration Chapel, our sisters maintain the hours, interceding for the Church and the world especially during this time.  Family prayer.  Check.
We continue to eat our meals in common, enjoying conversation, hearing about the latest technological mishaps with Zoom classes from the teachers among us, or about the almost daily changes our sisters in healthcare are adapting to.  Family meals.  Check.
A great gift of this time for us has been the visible fruit of charity that has sprung up in our recreation together.  We have gathered to play various sports, enjoyed a bonfire (complete with Peep/chocolate bunny s'mores), trivia, and have genuinely enjoyed the gift of each other.  
Home is where the heart is.  Jesus has shared his Sacred Heart with us, and even in the purifying fire that surrounds it and in some ways has marked this time, we have been able to share it with each other.

Beautiful..Yes, are going through a challenging time; but the gift of charity has shone through in so many situations. Mask making has become a new hobby and people are actually cooking at home. I look back on this post repeatedly for encouragement when things get a bit tense. Stay safe and may God Bless each and everyone in your community with health, happiness and may they continue to exhibit the Love of Christ to all they meet. Take care

Welcome to our Family, Postulants!!!

Today, on the Feast of the Birth of Mary, our new postulants entered the postulancy of our American Province of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George! We thank God for the gift of these vocations. Seeking like Mary Magdalene

Blessed Easter! May the joy of our Risen Lord fill your heart with His joy and peace!          Mary Magdalene and her story of encounter with the Risen Lord has often been a favorite meditation of mine. Throughout the time of our Lord’s Passion, Mary’s deep love for Our Lord compels her to walk with Him experiencing His Passion and Death. Her grief was so deep because she loved much. She knew Jesus, she knew Love. Mary Magdalene walks with Our Lady, who must have also taught her love by receiving Mary Magdalen into her heart.
